The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) men's basketball coaches have selected the MCAC North and South All-Division teams, as well as the All-MCAC team, division coaches-of-the-year, and division players-of-the-year. The 14-member All-Division teams were selected by the head coaches of each division, and the top seven vote-getters from each division were named to the All-MCAC team.
In the North Division, Anthony (AJ) Burch was chosen as the MCAC North Player-of-the-Year. The Central Lakes College sophomore guard from Annapolis, MD, shot 44.1% from the floor, 40.0% from 3-point range, and 89.7% from the free throw line in his 26 games this season. He averaged 15.3 points per game, and stole 37 balls, assisted on 176 baskets, and grabbed 120 rebounds. Burch helped his team earn a share of the MCAC North Division and will lead the Raiders into the NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday as the #2 seed in the North.
Bill Engel, the head men's basketball coach at Minnesota North College - Rainy River, was named the MCAC North Coach-of-the-Year. Engel led his team to a 21-5 overall record and a 12-2 record in the MCAC North this season. His Voyageurs team will enter the NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday as the #1 seed from the North.
Kam Givens, sophomore guard for Rochester Community & Technical College, was selected as the MCAC South Player-of-the-Year. The Minneapolis, MN product averaged 19.9 points per game and shot 50% from the field, 31% from behind the arc, and 76.6% from the free throw line in his 24 games this season. Givens had 84 assists, grabbed 108 rebounds, and picked up 64 steals while leading his Yellowjackets to the MCAC South Division title. The Yellowjackets will compete in the NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday as the #1 seed from the South.
Rochester Community & Technical College's head men's basketball coach, Brian LaPlante, was named the South Division Coach-of-the-Year. With a 17-7 overall record and 8-4 record in the MCAC South, LaPlante's Yellowjackets claim the #1 seed from the South Division in this weekend's NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament.
